Summary: "CA - always a great product !"

CA security products are all that I will ever use for system security, both personally and professionally. I have been using their anti-virus products for over 15 years, and anti-spyware for over 6 years. This product combines both, and adds firewall, web content filtering and system backup into one complete solution. I personally don't use the content filtering piece(no underage children in the house), but I have seen how it functions, and it works well. I can't use the backup option as I live in a rural area with only dial-up service to the internet. If I could use it, I would. It allows you to automatically backup your system and changes remotely and restore in case of system corruption or failure. The firewall can be easy to use if you don't use a lot of sites that open additional ports, or cross-link you to other URLs. The logging function allows you to see what is being blocked, and you can add exceptions easily. The anti-virus/anti-spyware product is combined and is pretty much a no-brainer to deal with. All products are managed through a single interface.
Unlike the other products on the market (yes, all the big names that either come with your system, or advertise everywhere that they are the best product), this one actually does remove viruses and spyware. The others many times alert you to an infection, but cannot remove it. CA has never failed me. With 24x7 tech support, they can assist you with installation and configuration if you need it.
All things considered...still the best product on the market today.

Just a little personal advice....DON'T select the automatic renewal option during install. You have to give credit card info, etc. Just select the "skip" option and continue. I have found that it is much cheaper to re-buy the next year's product from amazon at a greatly reduced cost from the renewal cost, and just uninstall the old and install the new. Just keep a record of the settings and exceptions that you had on the old version before uninstalling.

Summary: "doesn't let you download Microsoft Media Center TV internet and guide"

Just a word of warning, after getting a new Acer Laptop with Windows 7 Home 64bit, I installed CA Internet Security 2010. So far, so good. Then I tried to set up the Microsoft Media Center and couldn't get the TV internet and guide downloaded. I went to our other Acer laptops (which have Norton 360 installed) and voila, no problem getting the Media Center Internet TV & guide up and running. Finally, after trying internet searches and downloading updates, (I even diabled the firewall), I thought of completely removing the CA Internet Security program and guess what! Downloaded the Media Center Internet TV and Guide with no problems. I'll be installing the Norton 360 program for this laptop.

Summary: "Works but slow. Buy Norton instead."

I had CA for many years. Once you get the firewall configured, it works. But every now and then it would lose settings and I'd have to tweak it again. It often interfered with stuff, especially on-line kids games. I had to customize it a lot. The plug ins on the browser were nothing but annoying and I ended up turning those off. The anti-virus was straight-forward and worked. I never got a virus in all those years. If there was anti-spam features, either they didn't work or I turned them off at some point. My biggest complaint is that it significantly slowed down everything on my system. I realized all this once I switched to Norton Internet Security Suite. Suddenly, my machine was faster. Also, I haven't touched a thing on the firewall and yet it works. Ditto for anti-virus. But the biggest plus is the anti-spam. I get over 500 spams a day (I have an email contact published online). Right out of the box, it catches virtually all of them. I have no idea how, because I never configured anything. Maybe 5 get through a day. It just magically catches them. And I have yet to find a legitimate email in my spam folder. CA works, but its slow and fussy. As for the renewal complaints people have, Norton costs about the same and if you have 4 computers, you have to buy 2 3-pack subscriptions. But for what you get, I'd go with Norton.

Summary: "STAY AWAY"

I can not give this product or the company that produced it a worse review. I had CA Anti-Virus software installed on our main computer at my office since 2005. It seemed to work fine. I decided to upgrade to Internet Security Suite 2010. We immediately began to have a problem with the primary software program that we use to operate my business. We contacted our tech support company who tried to provide remote assistance. The comment that the technician made was that he had never seen a security software program offer less options for making necessary adjustments. He advised us to directly contact technical support for the CA product. Our Office Manager spent more than an hour on the phone with a CA technical support representative who could barely speak English. This rep, through remote assistance, made adjustments to our computer that wound up causing damange to the operating system. What's more, when we asked to speak to her supervisor she put us on hold and then disconnected the call. We wound up having to get our tech support company involved again. While we were able to reinstall the operating system without losing all of our data, it became a time consuming process that in the end will most likely cost my company between $500 and $750. I have spoken to a Supervisor in CA Home and Home Office Customer Care, to a rep in CA Small Business Customer Support, and have left messages for two management level people at CA in an attempt to file a more formal complaint and in an effort to be reimbursed for the problems created by the CA Home and Home Office Technical Support rep. No one has called me back. This company, in the end, just does not seem to genuinely care about either the products that they are producing or the customers who buy those products.
